Based in New York City, Carlos Walker is an award-winning violist, educator and collaborator dedicated to showcasing art and all its complexity to a wide audience. Currently a Teaching Artist at Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and previously a Morse Teaching Artist and Gluck Performance Fellow at the Juilliard School, Carlos has had the pleasure of serving students and audiences throughout New York City. 

Prior to living in New York City, Carlos completed their undergraduate degree from the McDuffie Center for Strings at Mercer University in 2024. Since moving to New York City to attend The Juilliard School, Carlos has had the pleasure of forging a diverse career as a recording artist, chamber musician and teacher. In 2022, Carlos received 1st Prize at the American Viola Society Collegiate Solo Competition, and received 2nd Prize at the 2023 St. Paul String Quartet competition. Since then, Carlos has been seen on stages at Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, as well as abroad in France, Italy and Greece. Outside of performing on these stages, Carlos treasures performing and communicating with audiences in nursing homes, shelters, schools and more. One of their most cherished pursuits is being one half of Bandung Duo, a string duo and collective building Afro-Asian and Third World solidarity through revolutionary art and collaborative projects. 

Currently pursuing a Professional Performance Diploma at  the Manhattan School of Music, Carlos’ current mentors are Jordan Bak and Jessica Meyer. Upcoming engagements include concerts with Chamber Music Charleston this March and an artistic residency in Novia Scotia, Canada with Bandung Duo in May.
